DV One Was In Las Vegas

...for one night on some last minute scheduling.

We met up late around 11pm with DV at Wasted Space inside the Hard Rock. I have to say, as an aside, that Wasted Space is exactly that. We met up, wasted some time ogling chicks for DV, making go-go chicks feel uncomfortable, watching drunk Irish guys bet us a beer that we've never seen a guy grab his hands behind his back and bring them around front, shouting at Presto-1 to stop playing nonsense and striking out on some weird chicks. Japs was a trooper from the moment we left Wasted Space till the minute we got home at 6am. She kept up with the banter, the inside jokes, the hilarious moments of calling chicks out on fake tits, etc. I have to say that I really do love that woman for the shit she puts up with alone. Nevermind the other stuff.

We set off from Hardrock to Smerk's house around midnight. Got there, played with his dogs which Jappy is deathly afraid of, had a glass of water and pretty much hurried out to Tnes' event at RE Tappas on Silverado. We got there, had a round of drinks which were two beers and two waters since DV and Japs didnt want to drink, and pretty much just miandered about for awhile. We were there about fourty minutes before ATN, Roland and ATN's lady showered up. We got down, cyphered and pretty much just made sport of the evening. ATN and I were going after one another for a while and when we about to leave he calls me out to "do some rounds". Whatever, I thought. I did a few and then proceeded to throw up the beer I had churning in my guts into my mouth. Yeah, I never said this was a pretty story. I had to end the bout early do to the mouth vomitting and then the place shut down. We headed to Denny's and eventually made it back to Smerk's.

...the story ended so abruptly, I know.

Jesus Christ and General Jackson, I am fucking bored. Today sucked. What else is new? My life tends to be pretty fucking boring now-a-days. Finals is coming up on Tuesday which is cool because that means, come Wednesday, I’m done with finals and I’ll finally have a fucking day off. I hate work. I work at MGM. I hate MGM, by the way. Their “Good Ol’ Boy” style of conducting business is garnering them new investment from foreign oil-rich persons and, really, I’m not keen on working for a bunch of fucking Arabs. I’ve never gotten on real well with them and I’d rather keep my own personal freedoms then handing my soul over to a bunch of slave drivers who still operate on a feudal caste system. I’ve been wanting to knock out my boss for a while and if my hours keep getting cut, my health insurance gets fucked with and my opportunities dry up I think I’ll do just that and be done with it.

I have always thought that violence solved anything and the more I work within the confines of this fucked up Corporate culture the more I see the logic in such a statement. The suits up in the rafters of corporate America need to be reminded that they should be fearing the working class, not the other way around. I wish America was still geared towards the betterment of its people and not the betterment of just the rich and lazy. This country was built on the backs of slave labor and indentured servitude. We need to get that slave-master mentality out of the American business model-and, yes, it’s still the same as it was-and institute a more egalitarian bottom-up system of business governance. Whatever, get yours and I’ll get mine. Just remember, the dude with nothing to lose is a dangerous man.

I Can't Focus

I can't focus on anything to save my life right now. Everything feels like it's not really happening. I mean, I feel like I'm disassociated with my life. I think it has to do with the work load on my plate. My mind if coping with the fact that I'm totally over my head by just making me constantly space the fuck out. I have a ton of stuff on my plate. I have school(which sucks for me), I have work(which I've had more fun slaughtering a goat doing), I have my wife which is a whole category onto herself and any man who's married will dig what I'm saying. I have my dancing. I mean, I'm all over the place with a bunch of friends who aren't independent or fucking responsible. Needless to say, they're not any real support when it comes to the grown-ass-man things I'm handling. Whatever, fuck everything and everyone who isn't about being there to help me and mine get over.

I should really take some time off and just relax but I can't. I have to work it heavy for the next few weeks. School is demanding, Japs is too up in the air about her employment, my work situation is dreadful but needed and my dancing is suffering. I kind of feel that if I push myself with the dance I could really fuck up people's evenings with how good I become but with everything piling up I'm not there yet. A little bit more. Just a bit tougher and a bit stronger and I'll see some real "blast the fuck off" kind of gains in everything.

Dig the mullet and cool out. That shit helped me relax.

It's election day. I voted last Friday. I can't explain how I'm feeling right now. I feel overweight. I can start there. I have to wake up in five hours for school on one of my two days off a week. The second day, if you were curious, is likewise filled with school and I can say it's not any more fun than the one I am looking forward to today. I'm so tired of the routine. It feels like I'm destined for something better. I am a better man lately, though. I can say I walk a tighter rope and keep better care of myself which is an improvement. I can't, however, claim that I'm happy. I really wish I could just decide on a career path and get it happening. I have learned I can't effectively be happy working for someone else but I'm a loss for ideas on business ventures. We'll see how that works out for me and The Woman, I guess.

On that note; sometimes I regret some things I've done. Somethings I don't. I don't regret getting married. I do, however, wish I had taken more time to get myself right before forcing my bullshit on someone else. Japs really has the heart of gold. If I were a righteous man I'd suggest sainthood for the woman. I plan on making more time for the people who have been there for me before. I wish hanging out with old friends and I can only hope that my support for change in politics will somehow magically garner me favor from the man upstairs and dramatically get me some time to do so.

I do, however miss the fast women, fast times and fast life. On second thought, most people who get down like that are fucking miserable so maybe I don't.

For me to sit here and not talk about the chance reintroduction of Dj DV-One into the narrow focus I've had when it comes to my friends would not be doing him justice. We kicked it tough for a four days two summers ago on the streets of Manhattan. If you folks remember the post about my trip back to New York two summers ago it was with him that I walked into the belly of Frank 151 doing their thing with an interview with Melle Mel. It was with him that I found out about how real of a dude Tony Touch is. It was with DV that I met and kicked it in the loft of the lead Supreme New York designer who's name I know forget. I mean, we just complemented each other's attitudes and we got each other's humor. I'm just writing this to say big ups to my friend out in Seattle.

These slogans all define or defined a generation in my opinion. I find that in today's ever shifting political landscape, financially ruined economy, fear driven populace and culturally devoid sub-divisions we're facing a dilemma which is systematic in nature and linked by one universal ineptitude that we all harbor inside ourselves; the need to be lead.

Throughout time Man has proven that it is incapable of responsible self governance. We have proven that no matter what the factors involved in our decision making that we will always choose disorder over social harmony. The past five hundred years of human social development have proven the point and I only need to direct any nay sayers to their high school history books to backup my theory.

What we have become-in the U.S. anyways-is a nation with no real sense of civil responsibility in our politicians, no communal equality amongst our citizens and no offers of olive branch foriegn affairs amongst our policy makers. We need to be lead. We've proven that. We've proven that a natural leader, no matter how assinign his or her ideals, is a welcomed addition to any body politic.

Our nation has become truelly a nation of divided loyalities, split ideals and unbalanced inequality that is so dependant on the top down philosophies that our valued ruling class has instituted for us that those at the bottom are finding not only their loyalties misplaced but their house keys as well while their "trusted leaders in banking" walk away with them both.

I only write to rile your caulder, folks. Your money isn't mine, your vote isn't mine and arguably neither is your trust. I only write these kind words to point out that our system of governance is failing. I only point out it's failing to highlight that our "Dream" is dying. I only announce this obviousness to ask you to rethink where you put your trust.

As an aside; I recieved a bit of religious hate mongering in the mail today. It was a dvd that was supposedly aired on CNN and Fox about Islam's-not even radical Islam, just Islam-obsession with the complete and utter destruction of the West. I decided to photograph it right next to my Journalism notes and text book to show you what we're being fed and what both sides are feeding us is nothing but a bag of the same.

Demand better from those you trust. Walk a fucking tighter rope, people. Call for dissent and regulations. It's not just your fucking money on the line, it's your fucking children's future.

I saw her walk by, the sun framing her face like a happy memory. Too many threads in her thread bare blouse, her hair shining like a distant star. I remember her now differently then when I saw her. I intellectualize what we fleetingly had, her eyes never finding purchase but her gaze darting about looking for a future. I saw her stall with her eyes staring at nothing in particular and I could almost see her search for the feeling of others watching. Is it her self image that searches for the attention or is it the tears she holds back that needs some fleeting mention of affirmation? In the two seconds I saw her I'll never forget her. In the coming years I'll see many more like her. In my life I might one day be her. Remember me as I walk by, a smile, a worn dress shirt, and tears in my eyes.

I have a responsibility to tell you it's okay to be whoever you are when I'm around. I don't begrudge you your dreams. I just hope you find a better tomorrow and eventually find some common ground.

From a purely marketing oriented standpoint one can look at everything Mac as the current level of high end self marketing that was once the supreme domain of companies like CocaCola, Pepsi Co., Dell and everything Disney. As we look to the present and the near future one can effectually see the iMac/Apple brand being the formula that every other potential company is going to use as a yard stick upon which to self brand and publicly reach markets. The iEverything of the consumer product world has, in effect, become everything we see every day. With Billboards cut down to simplistic two tone images and "clean white spaces" now filling in for "busy bright colors" we see the world around us falling under the iEverything umbrella more and more everyday. With companies like Dell and IBM racing to catch up with the advances Apple has brought to the market place we can only hope that the next step in technology will come soon from new companies and hopefully usher in real change like that seen from Apple and not the purely aesthetic changes we witnessed during the early 2000's from other more ponderous companies.
