A Monument to The Failing American Dream

Manifest Destiny. A New Deal. Peace Now! Trickle Down Economics. Change You Can Believe In.

These slogans all define or defined a generation in my opinion. I find that in today's ever shifting political landscape, financially ruined economy, fear driven populace and culturally devoid sub-divisions we're facing a dilemma which is systematic in nature and linked by one universal ineptitude that we all harbor inside ourselves; the need to be lead.

Throughout time Man has proven that it is incapable of responsible self governance. We have proven that no matter what the factors involved in our decision making that we will always choose disorder over social harmony. The past five hundred years of human social development have proven the point and I only need to direct any nay sayers to their high school history books to backup my theory.

What we have become-in the U.S. anyways-is a nation with no real sense of civil responsibility in our politicians, no communal equality amongst our citizens and no offers of olive branch foriegn affairs amongst our policy makers. We need to be lead. We've proven that. We've proven that a natural leader, no matter how assinign his or her ideals, is a welcomed addition to any body politic.

Our nation has become truelly a nation of divided loyalities, split ideals and unbalanced inequality that is so dependant on the top down philosophies that our valued ruling class has instituted for us that those at the bottom are finding not only their loyalties misplaced but their house keys as well while their "trusted leaders in banking" walk away with them both.

I only write to rile your caulder, folks. Your money isn't mine, your vote isn't mine and arguably neither is your trust. I only write these kind words to point out that our system of governance is failing. I only point out it's failing to highlight that our "Dream" is dying. I only announce this obviousness to ask you to rethink where you put your trust.

As an aside; I recieved a bit of religious hate mongering in the mail today. It was a dvd that was supposedly aired on CNN and Fox about Islam's-not even radical Islam, just Islam-obsession with the complete and utter destruction of the West. I decided to photograph it right next to my Journalism notes and text book to show you what we're being fed and what both sides are feeding us is nothing but a bag of the same.

Demand better from those you trust. Walk a fucking tighter rope, people. Call for dissent and regulations. It's not just your fucking money on the line, it's your fucking children's future.

..gave her what she wanted through till Sunday.

It's like a natural fact.

Politics has always been the bane of the average man. Now, their politics and reinforcement of established social divides speaks volumes about the state of this country and who's fighting for who. Take back your regulations, people. Vote for change. Demand better from the head of the household. Get yours from those getting theirs. Take it by any means necessary, y'all. I want to see you working it out.

Now, bitch. Where my rent at?

-You most likely thought this made no sense in any real broad spectrum. You obviously don't look past the what's on the screen. Step it up, America.

I Saw Her Walk By, A Smile, A Dress Shirt and Tears In Her Eyes.

I saw her walk by, the sun framing her face like a happy memory. Too many threads in her thread bare blouse, her hair shining like a distant star. I remember her now differently then when I saw her. I intellectualize what we fleetingly had, her eyes never finding purchase but her gaze darting about looking for a future. I saw her stall with her eyes staring at nothing in particular and I could almost see her search for the feeling of others watching. Is it her self image that searches for the attention or is it the tears she holds back that needs some fleeting mention of affirmation? In the two seconds I saw her I'll never forget her. In the coming years I'll see many more like her. In my life I might one day be her. Remember me as I walk by, a smile, a worn dress shirt, and tears in my eyes.

I have a responsibility to tell you it's okay to be whoever you are when I'm around. I don't begrudge you your dreams. I just hope you find a better tomorrow and eventually find some common ground.

Let's all get down.

Listed

I'm thinking of starting a running theme of listing cool new shit/places/services/people I find in Vegas. To start off this new thing I'm going to give a rating system to each new find. I haven't put enough thought into how I plan on enacting said coolness rating system but when I do you'll be the first to know, chief.

To kick off the idea I'm going to show love to my favorite salon in the city; Curl Up N Dye.

Information:

curl up n dye
2550 South Rainbow Blvd.
Suite E 17
Las Vegas, NV
702-247-6666
http://curlupndye.com/

Description: This is not your usual uppity salon or the classic wanna-be salons that are struggling to entice rich white women to patron their establishment. Curl Up N Dye is the anti-salon. They have fun, they listen to loud music, they curse, they create and they innovate in new exciting ways. Think punk rock meets high fashion. The stylists are top of the line ex-expensive salon stylists who mostly just were fed up with the pretentious attitudes that are oh so common within the upper crust salons. Call them up and give them a go. I promise you'll enjoy yourself and the experience. The haircut won't be too bad, either.

Prices/Suggestions: Varies. Men can expect to pay around $25. Bring a second top as the stylists sometimes forget to get the hair off your neck and shirt after the cut. Leave your assumptions at the door and try to get engaged in the experience.

Rating: Pretty Kick Ass

Make Sure You Do Your Reading For Thursday!

When we hear these infamous words from a professor we can assume a test is in order on said Thursday. When we hear stuff like "This election is the most important our generation has ever seen" we can assume that our vote is important. The fucked up part is that our generation cares more about the insignificant pop quiz on that looming Thursday than on voting. Get out there, campaign for your candidate of choice and make a fucking difference. Please, do something that really matters.

That said let's get crunk and hyphie and shit. Who wants to do some drugs? Anyone? No?

Anyone have anything they want me to report on? I'll do it for free. I'm THAT bored right now.

I Got That Shit.

I usually hate. I won't lie about it. As of late, I have been on a constant cycle of hating. I vow to change the vibe. To kick this new shit off I offer you people the fall 08 collection from Ludwig. I respect Ludwig. I respect the brand and their vision...as gay as that sounds. I respect my good friend Josol who works for Ludwig more, though. Buy this shit over at Epic which is next to Stussy and Undefeated.

I'm getting used to the Mac so I'll have the rest of the line up pretty soon. Consider this a tester. I have the Spring 09 line on my desktop but I was told if I show it to the public that I'll be stabbed repeatedly. I'm not a fan of getting stabbed.

Back Streets Stay Dark.

Saw Mos Def the other week. The concert was just weak. I was disappointed. The crowd were just a bunch of boozy L.A. tourists looking to cock it up at their "VIP" tables. On top of it all HOB had almost half of the floor covered in horribly gosh bottle service tables. HOB has officially been drinking the Kool-Aid. I miss the old Mos and Talib. Had to remind myself why a few days ago with those videos. I wish I had a Great Story. I know a lot of folks are okay with their meteoric rise to the middle but me and my lady? We're destined for better than most. Call it arrogance. I'll be calling you from Morocco. We'll call that my middle and your greatest.

Mad ambitious.

See you on the front page.

Journalism seminar next Thursday.

Enjoy the fish soup because it's the best you're going to get.

Ethical Journalism?

Maybe. Most likely not, though. Anchor lady walks the line.
